REVIEW: Nestle Drumstick Crushed It Cones and Bars

Nestle Drumstick Crushed It Cookies N Cream Bars

Nestle crushed it with its new Crushed It novelties that feature, according to the company, a “melt-in-your-mouth crushed cookie coating.”

With that said, I believe I’ve crushed this review.

(Dusts off hands)

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go crush other parts of my life.

Oh, I didn’t crush this review because I took the most obvious connection between the product’s name and slang that’s the same as the product’s name, and called that a review. Well then, let me put together a proper write-up.

Nestle Drumstick Crushed It Vanilla Fudge and Cookies N Cream Cones

The Crushed It line has two types of novelties — a Drumstick cone and a bar – both of which have frozen dairy dessert. They both come in two flavors — Vanilla Fudge and Cookies’ N’ Cream. For this review, Nestle sent a variety box of cones that contain both flavors and a box of the Cookies ‘N’ Cream bars.

Nestle Drumstick Crushed It Cookies N Cream Bars Coating Nutrition Facts

Yes, it’s weird there’s a Drumstick bar. It’s also odd the bar’s nutrition facts show what you’d consume if you ate all five bars in the box in one sitting. Maybe it’s for the competitive eaters?

Nestle Drumstick Crushed It Vanilla Fudge and Cookies N Cream Cones 2

To be honest, if you want to try something from the Crushed It line, avoid the Drumstick cones. They’re okay, but the bars offer a better experience because with the cones the cookie coating is only at the top. The cone’s interior is lined with the same chocolatey stuff in other Drumstick varieties.

Nestle Drumstick Crushed It Cookies N Cream Bars Coating

Nestle Drumstick Crushed It Cookies N Cream Bars Innards

The “melt-in-your-mouth crushed cookie coating” should be had in every bite because it has the right amount of cocoa flavor, isn’t too sweet, and is kinda neat because it’s more than a crushed cookie coating. Think of it as a combination of crushed cookies and a chocolatey coating that melts quickly. It has a slight crunch and looks cool enough up close that I made it my phone’s wallpaper.

Nestle Drumstick Crushed It Cookies N Cream Bars Coating Screen

Some of you might have issues with the fact that, like a lot of Nestle novelties, these have frozen dairy dessert. I have no problems with it and found the not-quite-ice-cream to be a sweet and creamy complement to the coating, but I think the bars are worth a try for the Crushed It coating.

REVIEW: Post Magic Fruity Pebbles Cereal

Post Magic Fruity Pebbles Cereal Box

What is Post Magic Fruity Pebbles Cereal?

If I told you that, wouldn’t it ruin the magic?

Ok fine, since the box spoils the mystery, these are pink Fruity Pebbles that turn your milk blue.

How is it?

Post Magic Fruity Pebbles Cereal 2

How is it done?

That I can’t answer, for I am not a master of the mystical art of magic.

I am, however, a believer, and what happens here the second these pink pebbles hit the milk is actually pretty mind-blowing.

Post Magic Fruity Pebbles Cereal Wet

This isn’t the first cereal to change the color of milk, but it might be the quickest. Your milk will go from white to electric blue faster than you can say, “sim sim salabim.”

If you expected a new flavor, these are literally regular Fruity Pebbles, which I was fine with.

Just off the smell alone, Fruity Pebbles cracks my top 5 cereals of all time. Add the taste and I consider them the best fruit cereal of all time.

Is there anything else you need to know?

Sometimes cereal milk gets so cloyingly sweet I drain pour it. This blue milk was delicious. Post should bottle and sell Fruity Pebbles milk.

Post Magic Fruity Pebbles Cereal Closeup

If I was still a child (I am), I would find this incredible (I do). But there’s something very unnatural about the blue color. I can’t help but think there’s something unhealthy at play with the sorcery. I can almost hear my mother saying the famous words she said any time I ate something dyed blue – “Imagine what that’s doing to your insides!”

Conclusion:

Despite the fact Post inexplicably left “Yabba-Dabba-Cadabra” off the box, I love em. I love Fruity Pebbles. What can I say?

The bright blue milk is crazy and makes me a bit uneasy, but I guess I like having my mind freaked as part of a complete breakfast.

I look forward to the inevitable Star Wars cereal that makes your milk blue.

REVIEW: Trolls World Tour Limited Edition Oreo Cookies

Trolls World Tour Oreo Cookies with Pink Creme and Glitter

Oreo is commemorating the release of the new film Trolls World Tour with a limited edition version of its cookies. Trolls World Tour Oreo comes in two varieties: a golden Oreo filled with pink-colored crème and glitter, and a traditional chocolate Oreo filled with green crème, glitter, and popping candy.

The first thing that caught my eye was the size of the packages. They’re only 10.7 ounces, whereas a traditional package of Oreo comes in at 14.3 ounces. Edible glitter must be expensive.

Trolls World Tour Oreo Cookies with Pink Creme and Glitter 3

I tried the Golden Oreo first and was immediately taken aback by the color of the crème. It was much brighter than I was expecting. I know absolutely nothing about the “Trolls” franchise, but apparently music is a critical component of its universe. Each Oreo had a musical themed design on one side. I followed my heart and tried a lute cookie first.

I twisted off the wafer and looked at the fluorescent pink crème, expecting actual glitter. Instead, it looked like the crème was filled with blue pepper. I envisioned my nephews being disappointed that the crème didn’t sparkle. The cookie itself tasted just like a traditional Golden Oreo. Texturally, the crème was a little softer than usual. If I squeezed the cookie together, the crème oozed out. It was certainly odd, but not quite off-putting.

They’re essentially a sub-par Golden Oreo that costs more.

Trolls World Tour Oreo Cookies with Green Creme Glitter and Popping Candy

Trolls World Tour Oreo Cookies with Green Creme Glitter and Popping Candy 3

The chocolate Oreo with green crème was immediately more appealing to the eye. The pastel green crème didn’t look nearly as unnatural as the pink. It was dotted with little green flecks that were either the edible glitter or the popping candy. These also have musical designs on one side, sticking with the theme.

They tasted like a traditional Oreo, only with the same softer crème that the pink version had. After a few seconds in my mouth, the popping started to kick in. It was fun! I adored Pop Rocks when I was a child, so this was a welcome sensation.

Oreo has released varieties with popping candy before, but I’ve never tried them. These almost feel worth the premium price, even if it is a simple gimmick.

If you enjoy popping candy and Oreo cookies, give the green variety a shot. The pink ones aren’t worth your money. However, if you have little ones, you may not get much say in the matter.

REVIEW: Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Pretzel Bites, Cookies ‘N’ Crème Cookie Bites, and Milk Chocolate Cookie Bites

Hershey s Bites 1

What are Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Pretzel Bites, Cookies’ N’ Crème Cookie Bites, and Milk Chocolate Cookie Bites?

Hershey’s latest innovations are a group of familiar flavors in tiny ball format. Why? Because you just vacuumed up the last batch of small, round snacks that rolled into the deep recesses of your home in 2019.

There are two varieties of cookie bites – one vanilla cookie with milk chocolate coating, one chocolate cookie with white crème coating – and pretzel bites with a milk chocolate coating.

How are they?

I really wanted to try these because I am both a choco-pretzel fiend and a cookies & cream fanatic of the highest order. I was less interested in the vanilla cookie/chocolate combo.

Hershey s Bites 2

First thing, I was surprised at the size of them. I saw that the main photo on the package was enlarged, but I figured they’d be Whoppers-sized, like the rest of the images on the bag. Nope – teensy. The cookie bites were 1/2″ wide and the pretzel bites slightly larger. The bag was only half-full. Disappointing, but not a deal-breaker.

Hershey s Bites 3

The chocolate and white crème coatings were exactly what I’d expect from Hershey’s – delicious, but in this case, not ground-breaking. The texture was good – crunchy, but not too hard. I wished the pretzel balls were a tad saltier, though (if I’m doing sweet/salty, I’m going hard). I prefer Pretzel M&M’s to these.

Funny enough, the Milk Chocolate Cookie Bites – that I didn’t care much about at first – were the standouts here. Maybe because the vanilla cookie/chocolate coating combo isn’t as popular right now, so it’s not a well-worn flavor. When I bit into them, they tasted exactly like those not-Oreo vanilla cookies that I ate in my youth. It felt surprisingly nostalgic.

Hershey s Bites 4

I think there’s something of interest in the Milk Chocolate Cookie Bites because of the generally neglected vanilla cookie flavor profile, and would buy them again. The other two, however, seem like duplicates of existing products, just in a smaller, slightly different shape that I don’t think anyone was clamoring for. Maybe they should’ve marketed them as a mix of all three bites in one bag – like a flavor roulette – which one will you get?

Hershey s Bites 5

Is there anything else you need to know?

These things are HIGHLY mobile and slippery. I dropped at least five that I had to hunt for after they promptly rolled away.

Conclusion:

If you’re looking for something new, try the Milk Chocolate Cookies Bites. If you’re looking for solid, good old-fashioned Hershey flavor, try any of them. I’m not completely sure why they exist, but here they are!

REVIEW: White Reese’s Stuffed with Pieces

Reese s White Creme Peanut Butter Cups Stuffed with Reese s Pieces

What is the White Reese’s Stuffed with Pieces?

Exclusive to Dollar General stores, Reese’s newest product is a white crème cup filled with Reese’s Pieces bits and the brand’s signature peanut butter filling.

How is it?

With each new addition to its line of products, Reese’s takes more of a “choose your own adventure” approach to offering the perfect peanut butter cup to meet individual tastes. Navigating among coating types, sizes and shapes, and filling add-ins, Reese’s fans get to try out new combinations more often than new flavors, and as a result, strong personal preferences form and comparisons are inevitable.

Reese s White Creme Peanut Butter Cups Stuffed with Reese s Pieces Outside

Personally, I swear that Reese’s Trees and Eggs are superior to your average cup. Milk chocolate ranks first, followed by white crème and dark chocolate, respectively. In 2016, when Reese’s introduced Reese’s Stuffed with Pieces in the milk chocolate variety, the addition of crunchy candy shells didn’t wow me enough to make my list of favorites.

Setting aside my biases, I was drawn to White Reese’s Stuffed with Pieces for its novelty, exclusive status, and charming polka dot wrapper. The white crème delivers in both flavor and texture, as the sturdy shell easily melts into a creamy bite with a subtle white chocolate taste. The crème’s flavor allows the peanut butter filling to shine.

Reese s White Creme Peanut Butter Cups Stuffed with Reese s Pieces Inside

The Reese’s Pieces bits add an enjoyable element of texture, but still feel scarce in number. In my pack of two, each cup contained at least one whole candy piece, which doesn’t quite meet the expectation that the word “stuffed” implies, but was still an improvement over my experience with the barely-there candy shells in the milk chocolate variety.

When I encountered a whole candy, I could taste its peanut butter flavor even against the powerful peanut butter filling. While Reese’s Pieces are not enough to make the milk chocolate variety special for me, they are enough to make the white crème variety more interesting.

Is there anything else you need to know?

The product wrapper specifies white crème because it contains no cocoa butter and so technically cannot be classified as chocolate.

Conclusion:

Having already dabbled in both white crème and Reese’s Pieces, Reese’s is not exploring uncharted territory with White Reese’s Stuffed with Pieces, but all of the elements work together well in this peanut butter-and-texture-forward candy. If you are a Reese’s aficionado who likes having options, try out this variety and share where it falls in your peanut butter power ranking.
